Okrug Gornji is situated in Split-Dalmatia County in the western part of the island of Ciovo . Okrug consists of Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji . It is situated in the center of the Dalmatian micro region , and has a mild Mediterranean climate , greenery , secluded bays and beaches that leave you breathless . This is a small town with 2670 hours of sunshine a year , a famous tourist destination in Croatia . The average temperature is 16 degrees Celsius , and 281 days a year it has an average temperature above 10 degrees Celsius . This feature is a prerequisite for a pleasant stay throughout the year . Locals often call the village " Okruk Gornji " and the inhabitants are engaged in agriculture (olive and grape growing ) , fishing and tourism . The village Okrug Gornji was already mentioned in 1461., and it was situated on the coast near the parish church of St. Tudor , which dates from 11.-12. century . Well known is the parish church of St. Karlo Boromejski , which dates from the 1735. ...In the center of this quiet area is located a newly built Church Uzvišenja sv. Križa. The city of Trogir is only 2 kilometers away. It is under the protection of UNESCO and offers the opportunity to visit the core of the old town .
Krka waterfalls are within 60 kilometers of the city of Split, which is 33 kilometers away from Medjugorje, are frequent destination of tourists who are staying on the island of Ciovo. The airport is only 8 kilometers away and from Okrug can be seen Solta, Drvenik Veli and Drvenik Mali. It can be reached by road, which is almost impassable during the summer because of the multitude of cars. To drive to Trogir during this time is very diificult. This is also annoying and dangerous, because vehicles like ambulances and firefighters can not find the way through the crowd. The locals are still waiting for the construction of the new bridge, which would improve the traffic, but unfortunately the project has not yet been realized. The beaches are of gravel, sand and concrete, and the blue sea offers a rich planktonic world and sports activities such as scuba diving, sailing and water skiing.
