Novi Vinodolski
In the south-eastern part of the Primorsko-goranska canton over the estuary of Suha Ričina at the top of a steep hill is located Novi Vinodolski. The city is composed of 20 settlements. In 1288 Novi Vinodolski was mentioned for the first timein one of the most important cultural monuments of the region - Vinodolski Zakon. It was written in the Glagolitic script and Croatian language and consists of 28 pages or 14 sheets.Novi Vinodolski had it hardin the Middle Ages . First came plague in the year 1496, then, the Turks sacked and set into the fire in the 1527 ., in 1598 the Venetians have sacked and destroyed the fortress, but the city has suffered the worst on 29.August 1615, as Venetians killedold people, women and children. In 1750 the city was destroyed by the earthquake. In 1886 built Novi Vinodolski the first public beach and finaly at the end of the 19. Century there were the first signs of tourism. Today, the tourism is developed. T...he city has a rich cultural heritage, residents are welcoming, the sea is clear and the beaches are clean.
Novi Vinodolski has many advantages . The city and its surroundings have no industry, fresh breeze comes from the mountains, it contains numerous vineyards, hiking trails, and hunting areas. The tourist accommodation is offered in hotels, resorts, campsites, apartments and private homes. Novi Vinodolski is situated in the western part of the Novljanska Riviera and has 24.8 kilometers long indentedcoast. Only 205 meters from the town center away there is a small island of "San Marino", was formerly the fishermens port and today it is used for relaxation and sunbathing. The city has a mild Mediterranean climate with warm and sunny summers and over 2500 hours of sunshine a year. The average temperature in summer averages 27 to 29 degrees, temperatures are bearable because the breeze always refreshes, and in the winter it averages about 10 degrees C. The water temperature reaches 26 degrees C in the summer months, and you could swim in May, but also in September. According to the census of 2011 the city had a population of 5113 people. 91% were Croats, Serbs 3.27 % and 1.31 % are Albanians. Most are Catholics 83.14 %, followed by orthodox 3.14 % and 6.36 % are atheists.
