Zverinac

Zverinac is an island in the archipelago of Zadar which is located between the islands Tun Veli and the north east side of the island of Dugi Otok, opposite to Bozava, while administratively it belongs to the municipality Sali. The island covers 4.18 km2 , highest hill is Klis (117 m). According to the 2001 census, the island has 59 inhabitants. Zverinac was first mentioned 1451. under the name Surian. In the past here was developed the Glagolitic tradition. Because of its size, the visitors will best explore the island through the walk. There you can see the old facility where it seems as if time stood still . If you enter it you will be blinded by the intense smell of oil and forget about the time. The old building whose facade falls like the flowers on the ground has nothing too strange about it except for the fact that it is one of the oldest olive milling facilities on the Adriatic Sea .
