Zlarin

Zlarin is a small island of the Dalmatian coast near the town of Sibenik. In the winter, it has hardly 270 inhabitants, but that number is increasing during the summer to 3,000 inhabitants. Zlarin have had large migration of population in the past. Zlarin has the longest promenade of all the islands in Croatia, 131 meters long and 16 meters wide. Highest point of the island is Hill Klepac (169 m) and offers a spectacular view. During sunny days it is possible to see the Velebit Mountains, and in the distance the volcanic island Jabuka from the top of the hill. From here Šibenik is visible as on the palm of the hand. Forests are growing with cypress, pine, rosemary, figs, olives and other Mediterranean plants. The inner parts of the island are uninhabited, covered by dense forest and undergrowth, therefore, the second name of Zlarin is "the green island".There is mild Mediterranean climate here.
