Lumbarda is located on the eastern coast of the island of Korcula, and it is only 6 kilometers from the city away. It has a long history, and as early as in the third century BC the Greeks founded here their colony. About this speaks Lumbardska Psefizma, which is now kept at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In Lumbarda were from the distant past built villas of famous noblemen, called the castles that are up to the present time very well preserved. The town is full of monuments and many galleries. Rich accommodation offer for tourists, ranging from apartments through to campsites and hotels should also be mentioned. In the village there are taverns, restaurants and rural households, which offer a wide range of famous Dalmatian dishes and wines. Lumbarda is often visited by sailors, because the winds allow surfing and enjoying the clear waters. Specialy known is Grk wine whose origin is unknown, but there is a possibility that this is the oldest wine grape variety of the easte...rn part of the Adriatic. It has a light green yellow color, bitter taste of toasted almonds, and the restaurants often serve it as an aperitif. Especially interesting are the sandy beaches that beauty really dazzles tourists. The most popular beaches are Tatinja, Vela Pržina, Bilin Zal and beach Lenga Brendana. Tatinja Beach is located 300 meters from the center, on the north side of Lombarda. From these beach you can see the islands of Korcula archipelago Peljesac and Orebic. On the beach there are many bars and restaurants. In addition to the beautiful beaches on the north side of Lumbarda is located Bilin Zal which also overlooks the peninsula, but beside the beach there is situated a car park which costs 10 kn per day. The largest natural beach is Vela Pržina which is located on the south side of Lubarda and protected from the wind. It is looking towards island Lastovo, and it can be said that it is the most attractive because it takes most tourists. Apart from cafes and car parks, at the Vela Pržina is located sand volleyball court. Lenga Brendana is ideal for athletes who are engaged in freediving.
