Korčula

Korcula, often called the pearl of medieval architecture, is located in the Republic of Croatia, and the town has five villages. These are: Čara, Žrnovo, Račišće, Pupnat i grad Korčula. Aa city located in the northeastern part of the island and its rich history is interesting to many archaeologists and historians. The town itself is surrounded by walls that emphasize the protective role of Korcula. Particularly significant is Korčulanska architecture in the Gothic Renaissance style and the facades of the houses include logos of Korčula rulers and bishops. Special importance is paid to the decoration of public areas, starting from the streets up to the parks and squares. Residents were in the past mainly engaged in stone carving and ship building, and because of this occupation Korculans became internationally known.
