A little mountain village Vrisnik is located in the center of the island, and is part of Jelsa community . At the top of the mountain lies the Church of Sv. Ante in front of which is a double row of cypress trees from the 17th century . Feast of Sv. Ante Opata is celebrated on 17th of January, it lasts until the early morning hours with folk festivities and dances . Vrisnik name derives from the name of heather which is the name for a type of herb that grows on the island. It is located 2 km south of Svirač and Vrbanja , 3 kilometers north of Ivan Dolac , and two km west of Pitava . 1991.the village was downsized through the separation of Humac in an independent settlement and in the 1857th village Vrisnik also called Vrisnić .
