Gdinj is part of Jelsa , 8 kilometers away from Zastrazisce, 3 kilometers away from Selca Bogomoljska and 6 kilometers west of Bogomolje away . There is well known Renaissance Baroque church of Sv. Jurja which dates back to the 16th century , it is located next to the parish house , and only 800 meters away from the city center. Following eight hamlets are parts of Gdinj: Banovi Dvori, Vrvolići, Visoka, Talkovići, Bonkovići, Dugi Dolac i Nova Crkva. . On the northern side of the island it is connected with bays Pokrivenik and Zaraća. It has famous and rich cultural heritage , which includes monuments like forts , city arsenals , the cathedral and the Franciscan Monastery . Gdinj has no great tourist offer , but on the south side of the island apartments tourism is developed. A long road of about 10 kilometers leads to the apartments, but there is one drawback that only few bays are connected with asphalt roads and there is no water and no electricity . This peaceful little village ...offers accommodation in apartments , private homes and rooms that are located near the sea . Locals are extremely hospitable and good-natured , happy to suggest tourists on leisure activities , and certainly those who would most enjoy this holiday are the families with small children.
People are mostly engaged in wine, olives and lavender production. The mistral wind carries away the smell of vegetation and pine forests. This place is inhabited since ancient times. The apperiance comprised of stone houses, old balconies and courtyards, and the wonderful scent of pristine nature that surrounds does not leave anyone indifferent. If you want a holiday in peace and quiet place, there is a possibility of rental of family house in a remote area. The town has several restaurants, a supermarket, while the post office, gas station, bank and medical clinic are located in the not too distant Jelsa. Gdinj as a small tourist town does not offer a rich night life, so when you feel like going out and have fun visit the town of Hvar and enjoy its charms.
