In the central Dalmatia is located the island of Ciovo , its area is 28.8 square kilometers ,per last record from the Bureau it counted 6,071 residents. In its northern part is situated the southern part of Trogir and the shipyard . Ciovo island has been inhabited since prehistoric times , and there have been reported founds from ancient times . In the Roman Empire, the island was designed to accommodate a heretics and outcasts and later in the 5th century as a shelter . It was not settled in the second period of the early Middle Ages . Something more intense settlement was recorded in the 15th and 16th centuries, at a time when the Turks were repeated attacking the affected population moved to the island , and in the 1625. city Council makes a decision to ban the construction of houses. 1546. the church Gospe od Prizidnica which is located among cliffs on the southeast side of the island has been built. In Supetarska bay once existed earlycroatian church Sv. Petra and Sv. Mavra u polj...u, in the interior of the island used to gathered the monks. Franciscan Monastery of St. . Ante has been built in Ciovo and it preserved its 17th century appearance until present. In the same monastery is kept a gilded crown decorated with diamonds from the 14th century and a statue of St. Magdalena made by Ivan Duknović, there are images amongst which the most valuable paintings are by Jacopo Palma the Younger from the 17th century .
On the island of Ciovo are situated a few cemetery churches like the church of St .Teodor which is located in Okrug Gornji , church contains fragments from the early Middle Ages . There is also the church of St. Karlo in Maravić but as Pavao Andreis said „There are no records related to its construction" Name Ciovo still to this day has not been explained although many researchers addressed this issue and found the old names of the island Ciovo such as Bua , Boa and Bova but people never used them. Between the island of Ciovo and the town of Trogir is located Okruk, leading from the bridge that connects Čiovo and Trogir up hill and down to the sea coast named Marinova Draga. To reach the island Ciovo you need to cross two bridges , bridge mainland Trogir and Trogir - Ciovo . Island Ciovo is above all known for its Mediterranean climate , several small picturesque islands, numerous bays and beautiful beaches . Ciovo is a kind of extension of Trogir and therefore offers many opportunities for recreation , swimming and peaceful and pleasant holiday . Beaches on the island span the entire island and are often rocky and sandy. Famous beach resorts are located in Slatina , Okrug Gornji and Okrug Donji .

Beaches in Slatina and Okrug Gornji provide restaurants. Island is located in the heart of Dalmatia which makes the ideal starting point for researchers of the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of Dalmatia . On the island of Ciovo there is one pebble beach with a length of 1000 meters, with restaurants , rental chairs and shade , and tourists can enjoy the possibility of renting boats and buoys . Near the beach is a playground and daily entertainment for adults and tourists as well as sports and recreation , billiards , table tennis and similar games. During the season a camp's restaurant is open and there you can enjoy evening shows and have the possibility to rent bikes , scooters and jet-ski. Most of the camp is located in the dense shade . During the season in Ciovo are organized many events such as the Medieval Festival and the Festival of kairos , which were first held two years ago.
