Sutivan is a small island municipality located on the northwest coast of the island of Brac , Split is located only 13 kilometers away. During the construction of the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian in Split one of its dignitaries built his palace in Sutivan in front of today's Kavanjinovih court . Following these historical traces can be noted that Sutivan celebrates 1700 anniversary of its existence. Sutivan has been named after St. Ivan Krstitelj. This village is today a small and peaceful settlement of the Mediterranean with beautiful beaches and wooded walkway which starts in Lučica passing through the bays Likve , Prbuje , Stinive , Stipanska , Male Tihe and Vičje Luke . The above mentioned beaches are beautiful beaches, where tourists can find peace in beautiful surroundings . Residents of Sutivan were active in agriculture , maritime affairs and fisheries. Although Sutivan now developed into a modern tourist destination for family, sports and recreational tourism abov...e all, every tourist can find something for themselves . Sutivan according to recent data has over 2000 high quality beds in private homes and villas and hospitable people ready to accommodate all those who wish to visit this beautiful Mediterranean town . History of tourism dates back to the 1927. year when Ivan Grubšić , a returnee from Bolivia opened hotel "Vesna" with 28 beds, which until recently worked as a restaurant . Sutivan reported in 1929. year 2464 overnight stays which gave him third place on the island after Supetar and Bol and Sutivan holds that position to this day , although it has not a single hotel .
