Supetar is settlement on the island Brač with a population of 3500 people and it is also the largest settlement on the island , situated on the northern side of the island in the bay of St . Peter by which it has been named and it is currently one of the main tourist destinations in Dalmatia . With the ferry line it is connected to the city of Split , which is a major traffic center of Dalmatia. In the resort Supetar is situated the Church Marijina Navještenja from the 18th century which was built on the foundations of an early Christian basilica dedicated to St . Peter . Near the church are located early Christian mosaics from the 6th century and the bell tower clock and the church museum . Near the town there is a cave Kopacina which is dating back to the Neolithic period . Sculpture St . Victor is located at the entrance to the museum and it is the work of sculptor Peter Jaksic , who is also the author of Mother Teresa at the entrance to the churchyard . Above the village there ar...e preserved as much as 19 churches from which the church of St. Luka the most famous is. The locals are for years dealing with the olive oil and wine and more recently the tourism.
