Brač - Splitska

Splitska is a village situated on the northern coast of the island Brač, developed in the 16th century, located in Split Dalmatia County, 7 km east of Supetar and three km west of Postira. According to the data of 2001., the number of residents in this small village was only 402 inhabitants. It was founded in the 13th century. In ancient times it was a harbor from which stone that was used for the construction of the Diokletian Palace was exported. It is worth to mention a few cultural attractions. The church dedicated to the Virgin Mary was built in 1228. year. Leandro Bassano, a painter originally from Venice painted in 1577. the altarpiece of the Virgin with Saints. Castle Cerinic which also dates from 1577. and remains of a small church of St. Jadre from the 5th century are also of great importance..
