District Selca is located on the eastern coast of the island of Brac in the interior of the island and is located about one kilometer from the sea to a height of 114 meters . On the coast are situated tourist zone Punitnak i Ružmarin. Selca is situated around the beautiful beaches Radonja , Spilice and Zirje that offer a wide selection of private accommodation in apartments and homes for vacation . The first time the place is mentioned in 1184. year as a pastoral village and later as the center of stone masonry on the island. The stone is a symbol of Selca that enabled the development of stone industry for the construction of churches and manor houses which are surrounded by beautiful gardens . Selca is also well known for its kitchen and offers wonderful restaurants that remain in the memory not only for its beauty but also for a wealth of gastronomic delights and friendly hosts. In the early days of Selca there were several apartments, a small number of families who lived in separat...ed households were not well ogranized as they are today . Remains of said housing are to be found today in only two locations , the first is house Žuvić in the area of the former village Zagvozd and Vebera is located north of the hamlet Nasela.
The first inhabitants of Selca dealt with livestock and later part of the population turned to stone and stone masonry. In the second half of the 20th century, the biggest name of masonry in Selce was Miro Stambuk Mise who also restored the altar in a niche of the left nave of the parish church, which was damaged by the consequences of the Second World War and also restored the stone altars and on one of them is statue Gospe od Ružarija. Mise has also made stone baptistery, stone counter for reading and preaching of parish churches and stone con bank with a dove that is used for collecting alms. On a hill Kruška not far away, there is a church dedicated to Sveti Nikola, and by the church are many locals calling the hill Sveti Mikula. The church was built in the 11th century and because of the square of the dome it is considered one of the most beautiful old Croatian churches.
