Sustjepan is situated in Dubrovnik Neretva County and has about 340 inhabitants most of whom are Croats, Catholics. It was named after Sv. Stjepan whose feast day is celebrated on December 26th. It is only 5 kilometers from the Old Town of Dubrovnik away. In the past it was an important defensive point for the protection of Dubrovnik, and during the war it was often subjected to shelling and attacks which damaged many houses, some of which were unfortunately completely burned. At the present time are still visible damages that occurred as a result of the war. One can say that this place is very underdeveloped, although there are many warehouses for food, and the mechanic's workshop, but during the summer months, many foreign tourists are visiting Sustjepan. Tourism has become a major industry, but also fishing is present.
