Mlini is a historic village Molina, and in ancient times it was the center of the milling industry. It is located in the vicinity of Dubrovnik, and over the years this has been a favorite destination for many tourists. There is located the parish church of Sv. Ilar, and the name comes from the Latin word hilaris which translated into Croatian language means joyful and cheerful. For the first time this church was mentioned in 1272nd in Dubrovnik statute. Over the centuries it has been often demolished, and rebuilt, but in 1667th it has been hardly affected by the earthquake. The church was restored the 1683rd, but this beauty did not last long. 1823 it was again damaged during the earthquake. Due to its rich cultural and historical heritage and beautiful beaches Mlini every year attracts a large number of tourists. Because of its peace and bountiful cuisine people of Dubrovnik in the distant past adored this place. Dubrovnik's poet Medo Pucić in 1877th met Vlaho Bukovac and wrote a let...ter to Strossmeyer and seek help for this man who had a desire to become a painter. Particularly important is the Church Gospe od Rozarija, which was destroyed in 1979th year in the earthquake but was quickly restored and returned to its old look. Particularly interesting are the church of Sv. Roka which is located on the beach. In the 19th century in Mlini came Ukrainians who came to this area to grind maize grain. During that time, men worked and women were responsible for washing of bags for flour. Today is preserved only one mill. Mlini was named after that mill. This little place thanks to its past, its beautiful look with flower gardens and promenades allows a nice holiday in lush vegetation and peaceful environment away from the noise and crowds.
