Turanj

Dalmatian city Turanj is located between Zadar and Biograd na Moru. Its 1,200 inhabitants live mainly from tourism in the summer. Its tourist popularity has Turanj to thank to natural beauties such as the National Park Kornati, Vrana Lake Nature Reserve, national park Krka and National Park Telašćica. The territory of the old Turanj has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. The first archaeological traces come from the Neolithic Age. That is why Turanj is also interesting for archaeologists and researchers. The resort is surrounded by a small archipelago. One of the islands which surround it also bears the name Turanj. Locality Tukljača in the immediate vicinity of Turanj is known since Roman times, when there were three ports. From this time are dating three church registers in glagolitic script and two historically important Glagolitic stone inscriptions which we find here.
