Srima

Srima is a place in Sibenik-Knin county. It is situated to the east of Vodice and acoording to the last census it has only 823 inhabitants.Srimar peninsula was already inhabited in the prehistoric and ancient times. The most valuable and best preserved archaeological site is a late antiquity complex with two-part basilica from 6. Century which is for all interested visitors to be seen in Prižba. The picturesque tourist town Srima is connected with the city of Vodice by a number of private dwellings. The village exists since the Middle Ages, but its inhabitants under the threat of the Turks fled to the nearby island Prvić and formed a settlement Šepurine. In the late 17. century the inhabitants returned back to Srima. On the hill above the village there is a church dedicated to Our Lady. It is a single building with a bell tower.
