On the west coast of Lake Prokljan in Šibenik-Knin district is located a place Raslina dedicated to the Saint Mihovil, proud of its seafood specialties and wines  First historical marks of this place, were in 1298, when the diocese of Šibenik was founded. In the 15. Century here was built the church of St. Mihovil, and in the 16. Century a fortress for the defense against the Turks whose remnants today are no longer visible. One of the most important factors that determine the life in Raslina is Prokljan lake that is located in the lower reaches of the river Krka. It is connected with the sea through a channel which ends in the port of Sibenik. The lake is in particular interesting due to the mixing of saline water in the lower layers and fresh water on the surface. In the northern part of the lake is located the island Stipanac which is known for the ruins of the ancient times and the Middle Ages. There is a legend that says that while the water in Prokljansko Lake rests on its gr...ound can be seen the remains of Gavan Castle which disappeared under huge wave which came from the sea because of the evil mistress of the castle which despised the poor. The whole area is interesting with its natural beauty, features and historical remnants and attractive for tourists from all over the world. You can in Raslina try out local specialties such as eel, čokalica freshwater sardines. In the early 16. Century the fortress was built for defense against the Turks. But today, there are no signs of the fortress. In the second world war , Raslina was razed to the ground. Population is mainly working in agriculture and fisheries, and more recently in tourism.
