Pirovac municipality covers an area of 41 square kilometers and comprises the places Pirovac, Putičanje and Kašić, which together have about  2,000 inhabitants. Pirovac, the Community Center is an old Dalmatian place situated in the bay. It is connected by the Adria highway with Šibenik, which si located the only 23 kilometers down the road. It is 48 kilometers from Zadar, 85 km from Trogir and 108 kilometers of Split away.  Its bay is a natural phenomenon, carved 10 km in the rocks , covered with mediterranean vegetation whose scent is mixed with sea air. In the Middle Ages it was in the possession of the old Croatian noble family Šubic, later it fell in the hands of the Diocese of Šibenik and nobles from Šibenik.  Pirovac has always been with its beautiful beaches a place of peace for the privileged.  This is due to the old documents of Pirovac (first mentioned in documents from the late 13. Century), but also by the remains of a settlement from the Roman empire to t...he nearby island of St Stjepann proven. The settlement rapidly developed, particularly in the 15th and 16th century. A large number of historical monuments from this period witnesses the dynamic development of the city: Gothic sarcophagus with a relief from the 1447. on the local cemetery, the Gothic Church of St. Jurje of 1506.which was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 18th century, the remains of the monastery on the island of St Stjepan from the 1511 year . There is an interesting legend, which says that during a period in the history Pirovac has been called : "The evil village"  because the villagers burned with the hot olive oil the Turkish invaders. Pirovac is beside Primosten, Vodice and Murter one of the most important tourist centers of Sibenik Riviera. Tourism is the main industry. Accommodation is offered in private apartments and rooms. Next to tourism, about 1,500 people remained faithfully to fishing and agriculture.
