Pakostane is a small place in the middle of the Adriatic coast, in a unique location between the sea and the Vrana lake. Pakoštane is surrounded by four national parks (Kornati, Krka, Paklenica Plitvice lakes) and two natural parks and (Telašćica i Vransko jezero). Pakostane had in 1527. year together with Zablaće, Norddorf, a total of 164 inhabitants. 1974. had Pakoštane 1923 present and 263 absent inhabitants. Up to the middle of the 20. Century due to their proximity to the Vrana Lake Pakoštane was still raging in the malaria, which today is almost extinct. According to the Census 1991. This place had 2155 inhabitants. At the beginning of the 21. Century Pakostane had 2730 inhabitants. Church of St Justin, is situated on a small island in front of the town. The island is home to the old cemetery. It was built in the 17. century on the foundations of a older church. Monuments and sights of Pakostane are church of St. Mihovil which was built in the 1694. year. The church had f...our altars, the size was made of wood . The Church Uzaščašća Gospodinovog is remarkable parish church. Big, nice, three-nave church was constructed in 1906. It was  built according to the plans of the architect Ciril Ivekovic. Church of St. Rok has been built in 18. century. In the early 20. century it was transformed into an inn. Pakoštane and the area around the island Vrgade are surrounded by13 islands and further 3 islets: Kamičić (1,200 m² ), Kamičić od Kozine (963 m² ), Lončarić (562 m² ). Murvenjak is characterized in this small islands due to its large and indented coast. The majority of the population lives mainly from summer tourism and agriculture. Many of them are active in animal husbandry: Sheep, donkeys, oxen. The beaches are of gravel, sand, and rock. Most famous beaches are Pilate, Bužakovina, Punta, Jasnice1 and Jasnice2. Depending on the preferences, you can find accommodation in various apartments and private rooms. The locals here are very friendly and happy people.
