Novigrad

City of Novigrad is located on the northwest coast of the Istrian peninsula, 25 km from the border to Slovenia away.It is located about fifteen kilometers from the nearby centers: Porec , Umag and Buje . The urban area covers an area of 27 square kilometers, from Dajla in in the north to the mouth of the river Mirna in the south. The city officially consists of five places. These are Antenal Bužinija , Dajla , Mareda und Novigrad . According to the last census of 2001. the area of Novigrad has 4002 inhabitants, of which 1,889 are men and 2,113 women. Total number of employees in this time was 1627, of which 871 men and 756 women. The territory of present Novigrad was inhabited in ancient times, as many monuments and archaeological sites are proofing. Novigrad has been mentioned in written documents in 7.century as Neapolis, in the 9 th century as Civitas Nova and in 12 century as Emona, Emonia, Aemonia .
