Lukoran

Lukoran is a place  in the central part of the north coast of the island of Ugljan, which consists of the Veliki Lukoran and Mali Lukoran with Sutomišćica bay. The bays are very well protected from the winds with the exception of the strong Mistral Tramontana. With the mainland is Lukobran connected by ferry lines Zadar - Preko. The place is full of beaches and pine forests. In the past it was a resort of Zadars noble families. The most famous was the summer residence of the family de Ponte from the 17. Century. It was mentioned for the first time in the 11. Century (1075. ), in the writings of the parish of St Lovro. Church of St Lovro with Romanesque features has been built in the year 1877 . The new church was built from the ground up, so no traces of earlier periods can be found. Only the altars are taken from the old church. Known Beaches are: Punta, Burel,  Rivica and Prtljug bay.
