The legends of Pićan Pićan is small town in Istria but the legends that were told about it are really big. Its history is spectacular. Pićan has changed its name more than ten times. So you can hear the Pićan and many other names. Today's Pićan has his Name of Pićanska diocese, which has its roots in the Celtic culture . The legends that come from this picturesque place are realy interesting ! Celtic culture and leftovers from history are here very often to see. Parts of the Celtic culture are located in mountain Kalvarija which is located in the vicinity of Pican. In that period Pićan has invaluable strategic importance . After the celtic culture came the Romans. Church spires and stone inscriptions from this time still remained almost untouched. Pićan legends have been transmitted from generation to generation. One of them is the legend of St. Nicefor martyrs. Emperor Constantine loaded the bones of St. Nicefor on the ship in Istanbul and said that, where the bo...at  lands on its own is a church to be built. According to the legend the boat landed in Pican. In order to continue to live the legends is population of Pićan organising every year "Legendfest". It is a feast of myths, legends and stories. During this event a series of workshops, plays, performances and exhibitions are held. The event is adapted for all generations so that  the children also will enjoy it.
