Lanišće

Lanišće - cradle of culture Cicarija Lanišće is a small village on the side of the road  which leads to the Ćićarija villages . It is located on the edge of a fertile field, so that in this part of Istria people live of the agriculture and livestock farming and to a lesser extent of the production of charcoal. The first written document on Lanišće comes from the thirteenth century. From that time until today here have been built many monuments and churches. From the old parish church which dates to Renaissance is only the bell tower remaining. The special feature of this Church is that it has three altars from the Marble which were brought from one of the Cathedrals of Trieste. Istria is known for the fact that in its territory you  could not go in the Croatian School until the middle of the nineteenth century  because there were none.
