Županja is located in eastern Croatia, part of the Vukovar-Sirmium county in Slavonia. According to the 2001 census it has 12,090 inhabitants and is the center of many important roads. For the first time this city was mentioned in the 16th century as a Županje Blato . In the 15th century. županja was part of Austro.-Hungarian monarchy, and the villages Bosnjaci and Štitar belong to it. During the war Županja participated in the Croatian defense, and also had the longest duration of general hazard, even in a period of 1261 days. It should be noted that in this city there are more female than male population. Particular emphasis should be put to sugar factory Sladorana, wood processing industry and animal feed factory. The coat of arms of the city is a shield, and above it is an inscription with the name of the city. It consists of three parts, two small and one large. On the coat of arms is located church Mučeništva sv. Ivana Krstitelja in Županja which was built in 1800th year. In addition, to the left side are two stump and oak leaves which symbolize national costumes. Therefore, we conclude that the stumps represent many forest areas that were present during the formation of the settlement.
