Zaprešić is located in the northwestern part of Zagreb County, and consists of nine villages. According to the census of 2011. this city has 25,223 inhabitants. This is the most densely populated area in the Zagreb County, and is surrounded by three rivers. Day of the city is celebrated on October 16, which is also the day of birth of Ban Josip Jelacic, and it is believed that the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic era, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds such as stone axes from the Neolithic and copper ax from the Eneolithic. City Zapresic was formed at November 30, 1995., and it consists of Ivanec, Jablanovec, Zaprešić, Kupljenovo, Šibice, Pojatno te Hruševec Kupljenski. In the distant past during the 15th and 16th century it comes to settlement of refugees fleeing from the Ottomans. The first written information of Zaprešić is tied to the church Sv.Petra which was built in 1334. In the 1920th cit omes to foundation of industry of meat products Sljeme and G...avrilovic. Zaprešić even has a 6-preserved castles dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. Particulary interesting are Orsic and Januševec castles, and the best of them is a baroque castle Lužnica. Besides castles, are extremely interesting are old manors, churches and old Zagorje houses with blue facades. The baroque castle Lužnica was governed byČikulin family, and in the 18th century the part of the estate belonged to the family Moscon. Over the years, the family buys the part of the castle under the authority of Čikulin and the owner became Maksimilijana Moscon. After her unfortunate death, the estate became a part of the Zagreb Chapter, and later it was bought by Pavo Rauch who transformed the estate to his taste. It should be noted that the castle is surrounded by a park where the lake is located. During the summer months in Zaprešić are organized many events, and in July, in addition to the International Folklore Festival is organized also "Harvest Festival". Tourists who are sporting spirits will surely have a pleasant hiking in the park Medvednica, and the river Krapina is a paradise for fishermen.
