Virovitica

Virovitica is a city located in northeastern Croatia in Viroviticko Podravska county. The first time the name Virovitica is mentioned in 1234th in the charter of King Coleman as this city has become the center of royal trading. However Virovitica was mentioned in documents from the 13th century under the name Veruche or Verouche, which is considered to be pronounced Verevče. City Day is celebrated on August 16 which is also feast of Sv. Rok. Here in the past settled Paleolithic people who hunted to survive. Illyrian tribes were spread between the Drava and Bilogora. In the sixth century, Avars and Slavs came to this area, and important is the win of the Croats against these tribes. Thanks to its rich history, it is particularly interesting to archaeologists and historians. Here were alternated famous kings like Kolomon II, Stjepan Bánffy and Emerik and Ivan Marczaly.
