Vinkovci

Vinkovci is located in the northeast of Croatia and is part of the Vukovar-Sirmium County. It is situated along the river Bosut, and with its area of 102.805 ha it makes an area rich of ash and oak forests. Vinkovci is known since prehistoric times where Starčevo Neolithic culture particular stands out and certainly noteworthy are Sopot, Vucedol and Vinkovci cultures. Area was inhabited by the Illyrians, and later by Celts. In the past, this city was called Cibalia or Cibalae, and in this area have occurred many conflicts. During the 20th century there was a boom of the town, and in the 1900th this is the city had about 8,500 inhabitants.
