Slavonski Brod

Slavonski Brod is the second most important city in Slavonia and the sixth largest in Croatia. It is located in Brod Posavina County, and consists of three settlements. And these are Slavonski Brod, Brodski Varoš i Podvinje. According to the census in 2001. Slavonski Brod had 63 268 inhabitants. It is located on the left bank of the Sava River and is the center of the community, and the center of transportation. It is considered the most beautiful city in Croatia, according to Croatian center of tourism in the year 2009. Historically, the city was called Marsonija, and from the 13th to the 20th century it was named Brod na Savi. During the war it was severely damaged, and it should be noted that a large number of displaced persons from Bosnian Posavina moved here after the war.
