Slatina

Slatina consists of 15 villages which are located in Viroviticko Podravska county. According to the census in 2001. the city had 14,819 inhabitants, of whom more than half were Croats (53.12%), while there were 33.07 percent Serbs. In 1992nd year Slatina was given city status. This area exists from the Roman era, and the evidences of that are found Roman bricks, spoons, knives, forks and money. In the 12th century Slatina was mentioned as a settlement in the parish Novaki, which was located on the border of the river Vojlovica and Čađavička. In the past it was called Slatina Salathnock, Salathinaj or Szlatyna. In 1848th it became the main center of the district that had 36 villages. But World War II brought many consequences and victims and thus destroyed 1,602 households, ten buildings and four churches.
