Pregrada belongs to Krapina Zagorje County and consists of 26 villages. It is located between the river Sutla and the hillside of Maceljska gora. The name of this city was mentioned for the first time in the statutes of the Zagreb Cathedral Chapter in the 1334th, and there are several legends about the origin of this name. According to the census in 2001., this city had a population of 7165 inhabitants, while nowadays the population increased. The villagers are mostly engaged in service industries, manufacturing, and tourism. It should be noted that Pregrada contains the first wine route in Croatia and has recently opened the business area that will cover all the major companies. There is a lot of information and documents about the population of this place since prehistoric times. InJanuary of 1997th Pregrada has attained city status, and the decision was issued by the Croatian Parliament. Also known is parish curia in Pregrada which belongs to the most famous examples of Baroque building in Croatia. It is stuated on a hill above the church, which has preserved watercolor from the 19th century. Zagorje cathedral was visited by many foreign tourists, and it began to be built in the early 19th century. Here are the homes of many famous priests and bishops, and it was blessed in the 1820th. The church has five altars, pulpit and Focht organ built by Francis Focht in 1834th. Over the years the organ repeatedly was repaired. Several castles like the castle Gorica, castle Bezanec and the birth house of the famous writer Janko Leskovar who was born 1861st, and died in the 1949th year should be mentioned.
