Petrinja

Petrinja is located in Sisak Moslavina County, and in the area of the city are situated 55 villages. About Petrinja is often said that it is one neat little town rich in tradition and small events. According to the last census in 2001. this city was inhabited by 24,671 people, of which about 70 per cent were Croats. It is the largest city of Banovina and Sisak is located 13 kilometers away. Petrinja was first mentioned in the 13th century, and it was located in the area of the village Jabukovec. The village was destroyed by the Turks who built there a new fortress, and after their departure Petrinja has developed as a very important center in the Vojna Krajina. After the Second World War comes to stronger economic growth and increasing of the population of this city.
