Pakrac

It is believed that the Pakrac during the Second World War was a city of revolving production in which lived about 90 percent of Croats, and after the war it comes to the settlement of Serbs who slowly drove out the Croats. Till 1991. Serbian minority was the majority in the town and municipality. During the war it comes to many conflicts in the city while a large portion of Serbs fled after Operation Bljesak and the majority of the inhabitants are Croats nowadays. Throughout history, it is not known date of occurrence of the old part of town, but there is an indication that in the 1237th year Pakrac was first mentioned. Also Templars have often mentioned it in the 12th century, and it is known that here have stayed many knights. Here lived also Ban Stjepan who founded the first coin called banovac.
