Našice is located near the city of Osijek in Osijek Baranja County. It consists of 16 villages, at 154 meters above sea level. According to the census of 2011. town had 16,224 inhabitants, of whom about 87 percent were Croats, and it is believed that the average age of the population was 39 years. For the first time Našice was mentioned in the 13th century, namely in the 1229th under the names Nolko, Nolche, Nekche, Naschitz, Vesice and Nesice. Also known is castle of Pejačević family who is considered the most beautiful building in the Slavonian region. The city contains a chapel of the eponymous family and tomb of famous composer Dora Pejacevic. Known is the Church of Sv. Antunda Padovanskog, who is also the patron saint of Našice which is celebrated on June 13. Lapovac an artificial lake that is especially popular among the people and where many events are held should be pointed out. The lake is located only 3 kilometers away from the city center, and Romanesque church of Sv. M...artin, the only preserved church in Croatia modeled on the Templars is especially interesting to foreign tourists. Well-known destination for visiting is the zoo Bizik in which contains more than 90 species of birds and animals from exotic countries of Australia, Africa and America. There is also information that this destination is annually visited by over 20,000 tourists. During the war in Našice there have been damaged and destructed many of Catholic buildings, and so was the tower of Sv. Antun set on fire. September 21 is celebrated as the day of liberation of Našice. Našice currently includes two primary schools and a high school that offers the option of continuing education in nearby towns. Particularly noteworthy is Nexe group led by Našice Cement, that was in charge of economic activity together with its members. Here are the homes of well-known politicians such as the Croatian Ban Ladislav Pejačevića and Teodor Pejačević, but also of many actresses and artists such as Izidor Kršnjavi.
