Ivanic Grad is located in the southeastern part of Zagreb County and its southern edge forms the border of Sisak Moslavina county, and a smaller extent relies on the Bjelovar Bilogora County. According to the census of 2011. in this area lived 14,548 inhabitants, while in the town were situated 7714 inhabitants. It was first mentioned back in 1246th, but life has existed since ancient times. However, the history of the place is not sufficiently explored so many records have the incorrect information when this city really began to settle. The resort Ivanic Grad was once called Donji Ivanic, and it was built in the valley of the river Lonja, which served as a major trade during the trade shows. City Day is celebrated on June 8, precisely because on that day in 1871. Franz Joseph made a decision in which he abolished Varazdin regions, and the area was placed under the authority of Croatian rulers. Particularly important is the decisions of Croatian Ministry of Culture issued by decree that the church is protected monument. We should also mention the chapel of Sv. Jakov which is mentioned since the 18th century. It is interesting that in the chapel is situated a stone relief tombstone on which was written 1648th. In Ivanic Grad acts football club Naftaš Ivanic Grad who is known for winning many tournaments. Moreover, active is a sports club Otok which for 10 years in a row is organiziing a soccer tournament called "Sport against drugs". Also, in Ivanic Grad takes place Pool Film Festival and also significantis vocal ensemble Milka Trnina, which was the biggest Croatian opera singer and most famous in the world of opera.
