City Đurđevac is located in the northeastern part of the Croatia, and Administratively it belongs to Koprivnica - Križevac County. Đurđevac is domain center of this part of county, and there are located the government, high schools, medical facilities, commercial buildings, over a hundred companies, galleries and sports facilities. It is the center of the Roman Catholic Đurđevac deanery. Đurđevac was mentioned since 1267th. In the 15th century it developed into an urban settlement - a market. In the 16th century it was the seat of Đurđevački captaincy, and in the 18th century the seat of Đurđevački regimental headquarters. Today it is a small town and the center of the Đurđevac Podravina. In the 1532nd Suleiman I the Magnificent returned to Constantinople, after the failure at Kiseg. He passed through Podravina and robbed Đurđevac area. Around Đurđevac castle was built defensive wall, in front of entrance tower there was enclosed space and at the ends of the walls ...were built smaller defensive towers. Between the towers there was entrance bridge and from the bridge, across the wide belt of swamp was long oak bridge that lead to the settlements. The owner of the town then was the last member of family Ernušt, Gašpar. In this area there are many cultural and historical monuments. The most famous cultural and historical monument in this part of the Podravina is Đurđevački Old Town, the only registered monument in Đurđevac. It is assumed that the Old Town dates from ancient 15th century. It is one of the oldest and most famous lowland fortresses, located between the rivers Sava and Drava. The most famous owners were in the 15th century Prodavići, Celjski, udovica Katarina Celjska, Ernušti, and during the penetration of the Turks in Slavonia it was occupied by Krajina border-crossing rule. This monument of the first category reminds Picoks and the increasing number of visitors to the turbulent history of this region. It hosts four galleries, of which the most notably is the Donation of Ivan Lackovic. In the traffic - geographical sense Đurđevac is situated along Podravska highway which connects the cities of Varazdin and Osijek, and is the hub of the road to Bjelovar and Zagreb. Through Đurđevac is also passing railroad that connects Osijek, Zagreb and Koprivnica.
