Donji Miholjac

Donji Miholjac is located in eastern Slavonia, and administratively it belongs to Osijek Baranja County. According to the census in 2001. the city had 10,265 inhabitants. It is located three kilometers away from the border with Hungary, and especially important for this city is proximity to the river Drava and the dense forests that were responsible for the possibility of life from ancient times until today. There are numerous archaeological finds from ancient times, of which the most important are Janjevci, Brdača, Staro groblje and rudina Maroslavci. The Romans were also here and their collapse leads to changes in the structure of the population in these areas. Then, for the first time were mentioned Croats and during the upcoming years Slavonia came under Hungarian rule. In 1102nd it comes to fusion of the Croatia and Hungary, and to the coronation of King Coleman with Croatian crown.
