Daruvar is a city located in Bjelovar Bilogora county and consists of nine villages. According to the last census, the city had 13,243 inhabitants, of which 58 per cent wereCroats, 18 percent were Czechs, 14 percent Serbs and others. Daruvar day is celebrated on May 5 and it is also the date of birth of Count Antun Jankovic. On the occasion of the Day of a city are organized various celebrations and events. The earliest known settlement is located near the healing geothermal resources in the area of Daruvar valley and dating from the 4th century BC. The archaeological findings indicate that these regions were inhabited as early as in the Stone Age.

The Romans established a settlement called Aquae Balissae meaning'' Very strong wells'', ie today's Daruvar. The Croats settled in this area after the fall of the Western Roman Empire and founded a village Probatica later Podborje. Four gold, two silver and one bronze award of Croatian National Tourist Board confirmed that the picturesque little town of Daruvar is most ordered Croatian mainland city.
