Čakovec

Čakovec is located in northern Croatia, and belongs to Medjimurje County. According to the latest census, it had 27,820 inhabitants, most of whom were Roman Catholic Croats, and the fewer are Roms, Serbs and Slovenes. In the past this region was ruled by the Romans and the first settlement was called Aquama. The city was named after Dimitry Csaky who raised wooden fort in the 13th century which was named Čakov turen. Especially important are 16th and 17th century when here have lived and ruled bans Zrinski, and thanks to them, this area has become very strong and rich. In 1579th the city was granted the status of trading center, and in the 1848th year it became a free royal city. This area is the economic cultural and economic center of the county, and the economic sectors are based on many industries such as textile, food processing, metal processing, construction and furniture industries.
