Tucepi has starting to develop in the 60s of the 20th century , and over the years it have slowly progressed and became fashionable destination visited by many domestic and foreign tourists . It has a very rich history , and this is evidenced by numerous ancient medieval and late antique findings and there are many smaller items dating from the 10th to the 17th century . Well known is hill Sutvid which in the past was the oldest site of ancient sites . The parish belongs to Split and Dalmatia County , and until the 1962nd year, most of the population was residing in villages Šimići, Srida sela, Čovići, i Podpeć. They were engaged in agriculture , especially wine and olive oil production. After the big earthquake in Tučepi established a modern resort . Ever since Illyrian times , this region was inhabited as in the early Middle Ages . From this period is known early Christian church around of which were situated headstones or tombstones . In the southern part of the hill Sutvid ar...e situated the remains of Croatian medieval church. In the 20th century in that area were found many tombs and stelae with inscriptions. The church of Sv . Martin which is located high under Biokovo was built of stone slabs, and around it were the graves . In 1434th this place for the first time shows in the Charter of Kreševo. The rule of the Turks lasted from the 15th to the 17th century and during the 18th century the population has participated in conflict between Venetians and Turks . From this time were preserved several buildings such as tower Saric , Lalic tower and tower Bušević . Since 1502. and to this day the Franciscans are the main managers of the Makarska monastery . The parish now belongs to the Archdiocese of Split- Makarska . Tourists especially like to visit the old churches that have a lot of beauty . Guests would surely liked the parish church of Sv. Ante Padovanski , which was built in 1898th. In addition to the church there was a bell tower that collapsed because of two earthquakes that occurred in 1923rd and 1962nd. Famous Split altar master Joseph Barišković was significant for the refurbishment of the church . He moved Our Lady 's altar from the old church to the chapel , and he rearranged the altar with two statues of Sv. Ante and Sv. Franje. On all windows there are the figures of deities and saints , which are especially interesting for tourists because the church is still used today. In 1974th has been built church of Sv Nikola Tavelić. The lower portion of the church was used for religious instruction , and it was blessed on February 19, 1978th. In 1991st bell tower has been built, and it should be noted that the church has the form of tents . In 1541st was mentioned church of Sv. Kate which had a bell tower with a rock. Beside the door there was a Romanesque transennas with six holes . This church was adorned with a statue of the Sv. Kata. June 13 is the day the municipality Tucepi , and the feast of Sv. Ante who is also the patron of this place. At that time the folk festival takes place and also known are the meetings of Dalmatian gangs . During the summer months Tucepi are full of life, there is good music and various social events that most tourists like to visit .
