Podaca

Podaca is a village situated below mountain Biokovo, in the southern part of the Makarska Riviera. It is divided into three hamlets : Kapeć , Viskovica vala and Ravanje. About these settlements are speaking found stone sledges for threshing grain from the distant past , which are now located in the Franciscan monastery in Zaostrog . This placewas inhabited by the Illyrians , 2000th BC. The area was under the rule of Narone which can be seen from many archaeological finds such as a broken urn with coins of Emperor Severus . It is known that the Croats settled Makarska Riviera and this area for using Biokovo pastures and easier defense against the enemy . Well known is oldcroatian church of Sv. Ivana , which dates from the 11th century, with the graves of Kačić in Gornja Podaca. At the pre-Romanesque time a church of Sv.
