Igrane is located in the municipality of Podgora 18 kilometers south of the town of Makarska. It is belonging to Split and Dalmatia County . This place is very good transport position ; distance from the island of Hvar is only 40 minutes, it takes 2-3 hours to reach Brac, Korcula and Peljesac. It should be said something about the cultural attractions of this place . The famous is the church of Gospe od Ružarija , whose bell tower watches over the village . The church dates from the 1752nd year . Not far from the bell tower is Zalina tower that was built during the Cretan war , where they led the fight against the Turks . The tower bears name of Zale Antičić. At the cemetery of Igrane were found sarcophagi dating from Roman times which are also the oldest evidences of settlement . Igrane name was first mentioned in the 1466th year , and certainly it should be noted that the church of Sv.Mihovil from the 11th century is the most important medieval monument in this area . Today, this ...village has about 400 inhabitants . A basic material for the construction of houses in the past was the cornerstone , and such stone houses can be seen there. Igrane consists of Gornje selo in the hills and Donje Selo by the sea .
Gornje Igrane is located on the north side, over Biokovo, and consists of several villages from where the inhabitants migrated to the sea. They practiced agriculture, olive oil and wine. Tourism in the summer is very developed. Accommodation can be found in many hotels, apartments and houses for rent, and a beautiful beach and sports entertainment delights tourists every year. The beaches are sandy and pebbly, and the promenade were built in a modern, comfortable houses and villas, shops, bars and restaurants.
