Dugi Rat is located 15 kilometers southeast of Split, in the municipality of the three villages. These are Jesenice, Dugi Rat and Duce, and according to the last census in 2001. the municipality of Dugi Rat had 7305 inhabitants. This place was inhabited since the Stone Age, which prove many caves located in Ponistrica and Turska peć. Many buildings and ruins are evidence of a permanent settlement in the Iron and Bronze Age.
