The main street Placa is brimming with cafés. Locals as well as tourists gather on Gundulićeva Poljana where they buy groceries. Among its numerous restaursnts is Lokanda Peskarija, an excellent fish restaurant near the port where they serve seafood dishes such as black risotto with cuttlefish and shrimp. Here you can find a total of 9 5-star hotels, which means Dubrovnik is the no. 1 Croatian destination when it comes to units of the highest accommodation category. In addition to its excellent hotels Dubrovnik also offers private accommodation in the form of apartments, many youth hostels, and several camping spots for those who like to spend their vacation time in nature.
We recommend Hotel Adria, which is located near the old city centre – its ambient is one of minimalistic furnishing with a spectacular view of the port. Dubrovnik is a place where tourism is in constant flow. Dubrovnik is predominantly an airline destination because most tourists arrive by plane. Most of its visitors come from the UK, France, Spain, and Germany, while the number of tourists from Greece, Turkey, and Scandinavia is on the rise. The city is also an important cruising destination with over 860 thousand visitors.
Dubrovnik hosts many conferences: last year over 300 such meetings took place, which means the city is strongly oriented to congressional tourism. Taking all of this into account we can better understand why Dubrovnik is a top destination for visitors from all over the globe.
